Sydney FC is an Australian football club from Sydney, founded in 2004 and playing in the A-League since its inaugural season in 2005/06. The club's home stadium is the Sydney Football Stadium, also known as the Allianz Stadium, which is one of the most modern stadiums in Australia. The club colours of sky blue and white characterise Sydney FC and have earned the team the nickname "Sky Blues". In sporting terms, the club is one of the most successful in Australia, having won the A-League Championship and the Premiers' Plate several times and also boasting international stars such as Alessandro Del Piero. In addition to its success on the pitch, Sydney FC is known for its large fan base, particularly the active fan group "The Cove", which provides vocal support.
