The Swiss Cup is the national cup competition in Swiss football. It is held annually and offers clubs from all divisions the chance to compete for the prestigious title. The winner of the Swiss Cup qualifies for the Europa League, provided they have not already secured a place in a European competition through the league. There are often surprises, especially in the early rounds, when lower-class teams meet higher-class opponents. Well-known winners of the competition are FC Basel, BSC Young Boys and FC Zurich.
