The New York Red Bulls are a professional soccer club based in Harrison, New Jersey, that plays in Major League Soccer (MLS). The club was founded in 1994 as the "MetroStars" and is one of the founding members of the MLS. In 2006, the club was acquired by Red Bull GmbH and renamed the "New York Red Bulls". Home games are played at the Red Bull Arena, a stadium with a capacity of about 25,000 spectators. Although the club is based in New Jersey, it represents the entire New York metropolitan area.
