The Australian national soccer team, known as the Socceroos, was founded in 1922 and has established itself as one of the strongest teams in Asian and international football. After Australia was part of the Oceania Football Federation (OFC) until 2006, the team moved to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to compete at a higher level. The Socceroos enjoy widespread support in the country and have established themselves as a major force in Asian football through their continuous success.
