The Algeria national football team, known as "Les Fennecs" (The Desert Foxes), has established itself as one of the major teams in African football. The team was founded in 1962, after Algeria's independence from France. Algeria has won the Africa Cup of Nations twice, in 1990 and 2019. At the FIFA World Cup, the team reached the quarter-finals in 1982 and was also present in the round of 16 in 2014. The team is known for its fast and technical style of play.
