1. FC Magdeburg is a traditional football club from Magdeburg, Saxony-Anhalt. Founded in 1965, the club was successful in the GDR Oberliga and won the FDGB Cup in 1974 and the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1974. After reunification, the club played in the lower leagues before being promoted to the 3rd division in 2018. 1. FC Magdeburg plays its home games in the MDCC Arena and is known for its passionate fans and strong connection to the city. The club is currently fighting for a return to the 2nd Bundesliga.
